2. From your Associate Minister of Religious Education

The Children and Youth Religious Education (CYRE) Committee and I are already planning for next year. While much will remain the same, there will be two important changes:

(1) We will have enough middle schoolers next year that we will need to have two middle school classes. One class for gr. 6-8 will offer the same program as last year, with field trips to other faith communities. A second class for gr. 6-8 will stay on campus (better for families who have tight Sunday morning schedules), using a curriculum that has proved popular with past middle school groups.

(2) We hope to offer OWL for gr. 7-9 again next year. We will be able to offer this program if we are able to find a coordinator who can volunteer to handle organizational planning and logistics.

If you have comments or feedback on either of these changes, please let me know!

See you soon,
Rev. Dan Harper

3. Teaching younger children to meditate

On Sunday, April 27, at 11:00 a.m., Kris Geering will offer a workshop for parents of younger children, on how to teach your children to meditate. Kris is an educator by profession., and volunteers in UUCPA’s Red class (preschoolers).

Kris writes: “Meditation is a skill, and like all skills we learn it in stages. This workshop talks about what steps children as young as 3 can take in learning this lifelong skill.”

4. All-ages community dance

The second annual All-Church Community Dance is coming up on Saturday, April 26 in the Main Hall. Paul Kostka, Don Brenneis, and some other fine musicians will be playing the tunes. Bob Fraley will be calling the steps. No previous experience necessary! We will have a variety of simple dances that young and old can enjoy. There is no agenda, except to have fun together. Invite your friends! A free pizza dinner will be provided at 5 PM (with potluck contributions most welcome), and dancing starting at 6.
