2. From the Associate Minister for Religious Education

Barb Greve has been with UUCPA since late in 2017, first filling in for me while I was on sabbatical, then filling in as the Religious Education Assistant after the previous RE Assistant left to get married. Barb’s last regular work day with UUCPA will be this Sunday, Sept. 2. He needs to focus on his full-time job as a hospice chaplain, as well as focus on his major volunteer commitment as Co-Moderator of the Unitarian Universalist Association, the highest volunteer office in Unitarian Universalism.

However, I don’t expect to say good-bye to Barb. He has helped us enormously as we move more and more of our administrative functions to cloud-based services, and I’m already talking with him about bringing him in on an occasional basis as a religious education consultant.

You can expect a number of pleasant changes as we move to more cloud-based services. This CYRE newsletter, for instance, will become an attractive HTML newsletter in the next couple of months. You’ll begin to see other email contacts from Realm, our online congregational membership management tool. And over the course of the year, content from the CYRE Web site, uucpa-cyre.org, will be moved to the attractive new UUCPA Web site.

If you have any ideas of how UUCPA can improve its online presence and electronic communication, please send let me know!

See you soon,
Dan Harper

3. Job posting: 1/5 RE Assistant

UUCPA is now hiring a part-time Religious Education Assistant, for eight hours per week. The RE Assistant works from 9-1 on Sunday at UUCPA, and may work remotely at a mutually agreeable time for the rest of the hours. Duties include managing attendance records, managing supplies, supporting volunteer teachers, scheduling child care workers, etc.

(UUCPA policy does not allow us to hire current members or friends of UUCPA, but please let others know about this job!)

To obtain a job posting, please contact Rev. Dan Harper, Associate Minister of Religious Education, or Edie Keating, Chair of the Children and Youth Religious Education Committee.

4. Safety training for teachers and youth advisors

All volunteers who work with people under age 18 must attend an annual safety training. This training takes less than an hour and reviews emergency evacuations, child protection, earthquakes, and more. There will be three safety trainings this month:
(1) Thurs., Sept. 6, 7:00 p.m., video conference or in-person (Room B); email Dan Harper for video conferencing sign-in info
(2) Sunday, Sept. 9, 11:00 p.m., in-person only, Room B
(3) Thurs., Sept. 6, 7:00 p.m., video conference only; email Dan Harper for video conferencing sign-in info
